In the early 1980s, Bob Kalfas moved to Strongsville with his loving wife, Andrea, and their daughter, Cortney, drawn by the area’s promise and potential. Together, they planted deep roots, welcoming two more daughters, Beth and Samantha, growing both their family and the business in tandem.

Bob founded R.A. Kalfas Construction Inc with deep knowledge of his craft, a few tools, and a big dream. He began his construction career hanging siding. His first home addition was built on nothing more than a verbal agreement and a handshake—a testament to the trust and integrity that would come to define his life’s work. From that humble beginning, the sky was the limit. Under Bob’s leadership, R.A. Kalfas Construction Inc steadily grew into the reputable, trusted company it is today.

Bob also felt a strong responsibility to give back to his community. He was a passionate volunteer, serving as a coach, a board member for the Booster Club, and a trustee of the Chamber of Commerce, just a few of the many ways he gave his time and heart to Strongsville. Bob believed deeply in supporting the people and places that supported him.

In May of 2025, our family, our company, and our community lost Bob. To us, he was more than just a leader. As the heart and soul behind R.A. Kalfas Construction Inc, he was a mentor, a visionary, and, above all, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

R.A. Kalfas Construction Inc remains, as it always has been, a family-run company grounded in the values Bob lived by: honesty, hard work, and respect. His spirit continues to guide us in every project we undertake, every relationship we build, and every foundation we lay. We thank Bob for all he did, and we pridefully carry on his legacy.

Cortney was born and raised in Strongsville, Ohio, the eldest daughter of Bob and Andrea Kalfas. From a young age, she was fascinated by building and mechanics. During her high school years, Cortney spent summers on the job site, working alongside her father in his construction company. She learned the basics firsthand, everything from handling materials and cleaning up debris to driving the dump truck, operating the backhoe, and doing the hard, hands-on grunt work. Her father always told her that if she wanted to get into the business, she had to start from the ground up.

She went on to attend Bowling Green State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Technology in Construction Management. Each summer, she continued gaining experience by working for the City of Strongsville Building Department and for R.A. Kalfas Construction Inc.

After graduating, she jumped right into the family business, working both in the field and in the office under the mentorship of her father. Today, Cortney, with the help of her team, proudly carries on the legacy her father built, honoring his vision while leading R.A. Kalfas Construction Inc into the future.

Chris has been with R.A. Kalfas Construction Inc since 2016 and currently serves as president of sales. With nearly a decade of experience at the company, Chris plays a key role in building client relationships and driving business growth.

He is married to his wife, Beth, and together they have two children, Rob and Layla. Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending quality time with his family and attending sporting events. He’s a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Monsters, the Browns, and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Bob was born and raised in Strongsville, Ohio, with deep roots in the community—his grandfather, Walter Ehrnfelt, proudly served as mayor for 25 years. Bob followed his passion for building and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a degree in construction management. At R.A. Kalfas Construction Inc, Bob plays a key role in both sales and field supervision, bringing hands-on experience and strong leadership to every project.

Bob is married to his wife, Margo, and they have one daughter, Layla. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his daughter, working in his yard, and getting outdoors to hunt and fish.
